Team GO Rocket return to Pokémon GO for the Taken Treasures event from Saturday, January 27th

Niantic has released details on the upcoming Taken Treasures event in Pokémon GO, which will take place from January 27th at 12:00am to February 1st at 11:59pm local time. This latest Team GO Rocket Takeover Event will include the Pokémon GO debut of Varoom and its evolution, Revavroom.

Players will be able to evolve Baroom into Revavroom using 50 Varoom Candy.

Event Bonuses and Activities
The following event bonuses will be active throughout the event:
  • Team GO Rocket will appear more frequently at PokéStops and in balloons
  • Trainers can use a Charged TM to help a Shadow Pokémon forget the Charged Attack Frustration
Additionally, PokéStop Showcases for event-themed Pokémon will be running throughout the event period at different PokéStops.

Timed, Field and Special Research

Trainers will be able to purchase access to event-exclusive Timed Research from the in-game store for US$5.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in each local currency). Completing these tasks will award Trainers with Stardust, XP, 1 Incense, 1 Incubator, and 3 Silver Pinap Berries, amongst other items, as well as encounters with event-themed Pokémon, and a Poké Ball Throw avatar pose. he tasks associated with this Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before February 1st, at 11:59pm local time.

Free event-themed Field Research tasks will also be available. Trainers completing the Field Research tasks will receive Mysterious Components, Charged TMs, and Fast TMs, as well as encounters with a selection of different Pokémon (see below).

Finally, the last part of the Seasonal Special Research story will be unlocked at the beginning of this event. By completing this, Trainers can earn a Super Rocket Radar to locate and battle Giovanni, who will be taking control of a Shadow Kyogre. This Special Research will be available to claim until the end of the current Adventures Abound Season on March 1st at 10:00am local time.

Event Bundles in the in-game shop and Web Store
A Team GO Rocket Box will be available for purchase from the in-game shop during this event for 300 Pokécoins. This box will come with 1 Incubator, 1 Rocket Radar, and 1 Premium Battle Pass.

Additionally, the Pokémon GO Web Store will be offering its own special Team GO Rocket bundle for $US9.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in each local currency). This bundle will include 7 Rocket Radars, 7 Premium Battle Passes, 7 Ultra Balls, and 7 Silver Pinap Berries.

All Pokémon listed below with a ⁂ next to their name can also be encountered in their Shiny variants.

Grunts' and Leaders' Shadow Pokémon
Team GO Rocket Grunts, along with Sierra, Cliff, and Arlo, will each be encountered using a range of different Shadow Pokémon. As of this event, the following Pokémon can now also appear as Shadow Pokémon:

Varoom will hatch from 12 km Eggs, in addition to the Pokémon that currently hatch from those Eggs.
