Welcome

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Mikoro!
Bulbagarden Archives bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to upload images to help Bulbapedia and Bulbanews. Before you jump in, take a look at these helpful tips:

  • Uploaded images must meet several requirements. Please see the upload form and/or manual of style before you upload a new image.
  • All images need categories and license tags. Save time and fill them out as you upload. There are many different licenses - be sure to pick the best fit.
  • Use meaningful filenames. Make them descriptive so that searchers can find your images easily.
  • Personal images are no longer allowed. Any personal images found will be deleted on sight.
  • If you don't have any images to submit, you can still help out.
  • If you have any more questions, see the FAQ or ask a staff member.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Uploading format

Please upload images in .png format, not .PNG. Thank you! ht14 02:59, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

And you please name the sections of talk page comments. Thank you! Mikoro (talk) 02:45, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
Careless of me... thank you for reminding me. For some reason, I did not put up a header. ht14 03:01, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
You're welcome, and I will remember to load files in "png" and not "PNG". And by the way, how come you are on hiatus? MIKORO (talk to me) 03:04, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
I am planning to be on leave... I generally am limiting myself from editing. ht14 03:06, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
Oh, that's a bummer. Are you, or should I say WERE you an administrator? MIKORO (talk to me) 03:07, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
I am still currently an admin here. Is there any way I could contact you besides here? The talkpage is meant for discussing Archives-related material. ht14 03:08, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
You can email me. MIKORO (talk to me) 03:53, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

DP185

The image you uploaded is exceptionally blurry, and appears to be a blown-up version of a much smaller image. If someone reverts your upload, you should not restore your upload if they don't happen to respond as quickly as you want them to. Starting an upload war on the Archives is just as unacceptable as starting an edit war on Bulbapedia. Additionally, it's highly advised that you keep discussions related to the Archives on the Archives. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 20:20, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Alright, I understand. It's just that I don't know where people get HD pictures from before the episodes they appear in air in the U.S. Do you know? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 03:25, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Ash's Charizard side images

Those two images that you uploaded newer versions of, I wanted to say that you did a good job with them as their quality is very good and not blurry. Pattyman (talk) 15:28, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, Pattyman! I finally figured out how to get HD images. And by the way, I have a satisfactory image to upload for Ash's Charizard. Do you have the right to unlock it? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 18:33, 12 March 2013 (UTC)
I don't have the right to unlock the page. However, I am glad to hear that you were able to get an image for Ash's Charizard. Pattyman (talk) 23:19, 12 March 2013 (UTC)

Logos and matting

Try not to upload any pics with any kind of logo on it. I've been noticing that most of the photos you have uploaded recently are of spec-quality and are good, but nearly all of them have logos and a few also have visible matting (i.e. black bars) as well. Use whatever photo-editing software you might have and clean the pics up if they have any kind of visible obstruction on them. That kind of work is appreciated. --Hmdwgf (talk) 23:57, 13 March 2013 (UTC)

Okay. Do you have any suggestions for image cleaning software? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 17:51, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
Photoshop. There's nothing better, in my opinion. For removing logos, all you have to do is use the lasso tool, create a complete shape around the logo and press delete. You can do many other things; and you can download the software for free for Windows or Mac. --Hmdwgf (talk) 19:32, 14 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I'll start doing that more often from now on. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 02:25, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Generation V move files.

Please don't just re-upload the move images for Generation V into the "<move> V.png" file—that causes them to lose their animations. The images need to be moved in order to retain the animation. Thank you. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 22:20, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Understood. But how do I do that? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 22:27, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
You'll have to wait a while before they're all moved. After that, you can upload your images. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 22:28, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
Alright, thanks. Can you let me know when I can start? I will save up all of my images before then. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 22:29, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
There are a few that I accidentally skipped but were already taken care off (such as Assurance and After You), so you can start on those in the meantime. Pattyman (talk) 23:07, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Licensing reminder

Hey Mikoro, this is a reminder to add licensings after the summary of each file. Thanks. ht14 13:53, 11 November 2013 (UTC)

What are you talking about? I've added licencings for every single image I've uploaded so far. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 13:56, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
According to the summary pages of your most recent move uploads, that is not the case. ht14 13:58, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
When I click the upload link, after typing the name and the summary, I go to the license section and click "screen shot from a Pokémon game". Are you sure you're not just overlooking anything? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 14:02, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Hmm… that's odd. I'm definitely not overlooking it though, as you can see here. ht14 14:06, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Oh, I see what the problem is. When I click the option when uploading the file, it doesn't automatically transfer to the file description once it's uploaded. It has to be done manually. I will start doing that. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 14:10, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for understanding. One more thing, there's no break between Summary and Licensing. So a sample structure would be:
==Summary==
Insert summary here
==Licensing:==
Insert licensing here
Thanks again. I really appreciate your help. 14:14, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
It's no trouble. Also, I will stop putting extra returns between the licensing and summary sections. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 14:20, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Hi Mikoro, this is just another reminder to please add the licensing after the summary of each move image. The licensings seem to be missing whenever you blank the file page first, so just add them manually. A tip is that instead of blanking the redirect, uploading the image, and then adding the summary, you could instead replace the redirect with the summary and licensing, and then upload the image onto the page. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 23:25, 6 March 2016 (UTC)
Okay I will, sorry about that. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 00:53, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Weather images

If it's possible, it'd be nice if you could add images of the weather itself (and probably get a better view on the Primal/Mega weather of Hoenn trio) and the overworld images. Eridanus (talk) 15:32, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

I'll try my best. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 17:35, 7 March 2016 (UTC)
Small correction on my side; the thunderstorm is on Route 119 (as part of the cycle). Eridanus (talk) 17:51, 7 March 2016 (UTC)

Fire Fang

Could you please reupload it once everything's sorted out? The image seems blurry. Eridanus (talk) 16:38, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

That was the best quality I could get it, sorry. It seems that the screen intentionally goes blurry when the move is used... not really sure why. I could be wrong, but it's just how I happened to notice it. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 17:57, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

Swagger (Gen VI) image

Generally, images get tagged for deletion if they aren't used on any page (except for talk pages). The Swagger image you tagged was used on the page of the move itself. I saw that you created a discussion for it that went unanswered. If the discussion was unanswered, you should speak to an admin and they'll see what they could do about it. Pattyman (talk) 15:46, 15 April 2016 (UTC)

Impossible battle environments and users

I've noticed a number of your move images depict Pokémon or Double Battles in battle environments they do not appear in, and Pokémon using moves they cannot learn. While I would rather have these than no images at all, can I ask that you try and upload images that could be taken during regular gameplay? Also, since I know you're getting these from YouTube videos (with permission), could you point out to me which videos these are coming from? --SnorlaxMonster 02:49, 16 April 2016 (UTC)

The name of the YouTube channel is "Mixeli" (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbEsOqFZBTJ8q_FTS5lM8Qw). I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 02:50, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
You only had permission to upload move images from Haydunn's channel, not this other channel. You certainly knew this, because Kogoro specifically contacted him in order to give you permission, and told you as such. Consequently, your permission to upload ANY Gen VI move images has been revoked (including from Haydunn's channel). (Please contact Kogoro, not me, if you want to discuss this further.) --SnorlaxMonster 03:03, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
...okay, first of all, she didn't specifically tell me not to upload any other images from other channels; it was merely implied. Also, sorry if this sounds rude but unless I'm mistaken, my uploading Generation VI images is strictly between me and Kogoro, so I'd really appreciate it if you wouldn't butt in like this. Finally, if you're going to block me, at least try to be nice about it, for one, and for two, don't you think you're being a bit hasty? I don't recall Bulbagarden ever being the wiki to punish first offenders. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 03:20, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
Why did you think you could upload other channel's videos when Kogoro had to confirm you had permission from the first one? Regardless, after I told you that you did not have permission to upload Gen VI move images, and you replied here (so you knew), you continued to upload such images, so you have received a 1 week block.
I am also a staff member here, and have been discussing the situation with Kogoro the entire time. You are uploading images to the wiki; it's not a private matter between you and one staff member (and Kogoro certainly doesn't view it that way either).
I wasn't trying to be rude, but you're not going to like what I'm telling you regardless since I'm punishing you. I should also point out that this isn't your first offense, since you had been uploading Gen VI images without permission before, ignoring the giant notice at the top of the upload page. --SnorlaxMonster 03:43, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
Also did I forget to mention that I forgot to ask her? People make mistakes! Also I sent you an email... I'm not gonna repeat everything I said in the email, but feel free to bring the conversation over here if it's any easier... and I would've felt a little better if you had been a bit more polite. Finally, I have to ask: before you said I was blocked from uploading, but now I am blocked completely? Are they two separate blocks or is it just one? And if it is two separate blocks, am I banned from uploading forever? P.S. Please type everything in one paragraph... it makes it easier for me to know how much to indent. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 03:54, 16 April 2016 (UTC)
I've read your email, and I don't believe you. No browser sits around for 8 minutes trying to do something without timing out. Regardless, I can check which operating system made which edits, and all of your recent edits came from the same Windows PC, except your most recent reply which came from an iPhone.
To clarify the block:
  • You have a one-week software-enforced block. This means the wiki software will not allow you to edit any pages (other than your talk page) until that block is over (in one week).
  • You no longer have permission to upload Gen VI move images. This is enforced by the staff, so while the software will still allow you to do so, staff will punish you if you do. Your permission to upload these images has been revoked for the foreseeable future, and if we were to grant it to you again it would require you to apply again. --SnorlaxMonster 11:13, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
What do you mean by... apply? And again, please type everything you have to say in one paragraph. Finally, I don't know what's up with that, because I wasn't lying. I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 13:30, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Apply as in ask a staff member to give you permission. But again, that's not something for the foreseeable future, so don't worry about it. --SnorlaxMonster 10:04, 19 April 2016 (UTC)
So we're talking weeks? Months? Years? I am Mikoro (wanna talk?) 12:51, 19 April 2016 (UTC)

Editing comments

Please do not edit other users' comments. If people want to "help" you in your difficulty with multiple paragraphs, that's up to them and you will have to leave it to them, not you. (Honestly, though, I really don't understand how you can have any particular difficulty with it. What I often do, especially as indentation gets longer, is just copy the colons from the start of the last response and add one.) Tiddlywinks (talk) 15:04, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
