The Pokémon Company have released a brief public statement in response to inquiries they have receive relating to potential intellectual property infringement by another game developer. Though the statement names no names, it quite clearly refers to Palworld, the so-called "Pokémon with Guns" game, which has been in the news recently both for its strong initial sales, the public statements of the studio's CEO in support of generative AI, and the similarities many of the game's "Pals" have to different kinds of Pokémon.

Leon & Charizard are returning to Pokémon Masters EX today in a special Master Fair Scout alongside the usual collection of regular events and presents on offer in Pokémon Masters EX for the Pokémon Masters Day monthly celebrations. All players who log in today will receive a special present of 500 gems from Pikachu, and have the opportunity to take advantage of special events and co-op battles. As always, several Sync Pairs are also receiving upgrades alongside this monthly event.

Back in October last year, Nintendo announced in posts on their official social media channels that core online play and communications functions for the 3DS and Wii U consoles will sunset from early April 2024. Nintendo have today given firm dates for when these services will shut down, with online play and other online functions to cease for most services from April 8th.

Following a series of short teaser videos showing off Gyarados's moveset, the official Pokémon UNITE account on X (formerly Twitter) has released a full infographic detailing Gyarados's Ability, Moves and UNITE Move along with its Progression stats, ahead of the Pokémon joining the game this week on January 25th. Aeos Cup Online Qualifiers Registration have now also opened for the Unite Championship Series 2024, with information being released on the year's tournament schedule, and the cash prizes that will be available for each event.

Valentine's Day is coming early to Pokémon Café ReMix, with the new Charming Emolga event offering players the chance to acquire a new charming outfit for Emolga in the outdoor tea party mode. Meanwhile in Pelipper Deliveries, Inteleon is appearing in its brand new Five-Star Chef outfit, and Porygon2 makes a return. Electrode also returns to the café in the Roll, Electrode! Team Orders event, where players have to gather stars in order to get rewards.

Pokémon Sleep has received an update today to Version 1.1.0. This new major patch adds a number of new features and quality of life changes to the game, including the new Lapis Lakeside area, new ingredients and recipes, and the ability for Researcher's teams to eat together with Snorlax. A substantial number of bug fixes have also been made, including fixing a bug that had been exploited by some players to accelerate progress.

The odd jobs saga continues in Pokémon Horizons this week as Liko and Roy are tasked to help one of Nidothing’s viewers with a problem. The viewer, who goes by the username Yunorin, wants to join the Tag Battle Tournament being held in Pigton Town, but her Oinkologne isn’t too thrilled about partnering up with another Pokémon. What could be the issue? It’s nice that the kids are the main focus of this week's episode without adults interfering this time around.

Today's updates on the Pokémon Trading Card Game's official Japanese homepage and YouTube channel have revealed most of the remaining new cards from the upcoming Wild Force and Cyber Judge expansions for the Scarlet & Violet series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, which are being release in Japan next week on January 26th. Cards from these sets will be released internationally later this year as part of the Scarlet & Violet - Temporal Forces expansion on March 22nd.

The Pokémon Company and Singapore’s largest supermarket chain, FairPrice, are bringing limited-edition OREO cookie packs with Pokémon theming to customers in Singapore. Three flavors (Vanilla, Strawberry, or Chocolate-filled) come in packages containing nine snack packs of 3 cookies for $3.34 SGD ($2.49 USD), or the 3 cookie snack packs can be bought individually for $1.71 SGD ($1.27 USD). The newly-debuted special edition flavor, Choco Banana, which features Pikachu on each bright yellow cookie, is $4.34 SGD ($3.23 USD) for the package of nine snack packs, and $2.22 SGD ($1.65 USD) for the individual pack of 3 cookies. The three regular flavors will be stamped with 16 different Pokémon designs randomly distributed throughout the packs. The designs seem to be identical to those included in the Pokémon x OREO Limited Edition cookies that were available in the U.S. in 2021, containing fan favorites like Bulbasaur, Piplup, and Pancham.

Next week on January 23rd, the Pokémon Trading Card Game Live will be receiving an update to Version 1.10.0 ahead of the release of Scarlet & Violet - Paldean Fates on January 25th. This update will resolve a large quantity of issues impacting on both gameplay, and general app stability both in and out of matches. This update will be preceded by an 8 hour long maintenance window, which according to the in-game notification is scheduled to start at 8:00am (PST) / 4:00pm (UTC) on January 23rd.

The “Legends of Johto” capsule collection by Italian streetwear design collective Dolly Noire has arrived online at the Pokémon Center for customers in the U.S., U.K., and Canada. The premiumly-priced collection consisting of seven t-shirts ($49.99 USD each) and two sweatshirts ($144.99 and $129.99 USD) is part of the larger Pokémon collection available via Dolly Noire’s website. The larger collection, which does ship internationally, includes additional pieces not available at the Pokémon Center, like Poké Ball socks and a beanie. Despite the name, “Legends of Johto” includes starters and Legendary Pokémon from both Kanto and Johto. Favorites featured include the Johto starters, Charizard, Suicune, Entei, Raikou, the Legendary birds, Ho-Oh, Lugia, and Mewtwo.

Battle Pass 21 has gone live in Pokémon UNITE, alongside the start of Ranked Match Season 17. The new Battle Pass focuses on Pokémon wearing stage-play outfits, and brings with it a variety of new daily lessons and missions, Holowear, and rewards. Version 1.13.1.5 also dropped this week, with nerfs to Metagross. Additionally, a new video featuring Gyarados using Aqua Tail has been published to the official Pokémon UNITE account on X (formerly Twitter).

This is the third time the event has been re-run.
